The municipal corporation here on Sunday warned the parking contractor of Feroze Gandhi Market against recovering service tax from the public.
Naveen Malhotra, the superintendent of tehbazari wing, visited the market and found that the contractor was charging extra parking fee from visitors to recover service tax. Malhotra said it was a violation of the contract signed between the MC and contractor.
"I visited the market and found that the contractor was charging more money than allowed from those who parked their vehicles in the market. We had also received complaints regarding this," said Malhotra.
Malhotra also directed the contractor to ensure service lanes meant for fire-tenders is left free for movement. The contractor was allegedly allowing visitors to park on the service lanes.
