Minister announces Rajiv Gandhi Center for youth development

Union minister of states sports and youth affairs Jitendra Singh on Sunday announced Rajiv Gandhi Center for youth development in Chandigarh. It will be second centre in the country.


Singh was addressing youths at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) during the 18th National Youth Fesival. He added that the centre would provide different courses and degrees to the youths of north India. He also disclosed aspects of national youth policy 2014.


Singh also appreciated support of Punjab government to hold the function. He said this festival will convey message of drug free society.

Sukhbir Singh Badal, who was also present at the event, said that the state will implement all schemes initiated by centre for youths and sports. He added that the state has been working hard to eradicate drug menace. "If centre and state work together the drug menace could be eradicated very soon," he said.

32 youths from all over the country have been awarded for their contribution in society during the programme.
