Two police imposters looted jewellery from a courier delivery man on the pretext of frisking on Wednesday.

Following the statement of the victim, the courier company manager registered a case under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intentions) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused.

In his complaint, Naresh Kumar of Cemetery Road revealed that he got a courier from Jaipur. He asked his employee Jatinder Kumar Saini to deliver the courier to Ram Krishna Jeweller, near Fountain Chowk. As Jatinder Kumar reached near Fountain Chowk, two imposters stopped him who asked him to show his bag, claiming that they were employees of Crime Branch of Police.

While frisking, the imposters looted four gold pendants from the bag and fled.

The police registered a case against the unidentified accused in this context. ASI Ajaib Singh, incharge at police division number 8, said they were investigating the matter.

It is the fifth such incident on Mall road when imposters have succeeded in looting local residents. In June, 2013, imposters had looted employee of a jewellery shop, post which employees had demanded security in this area, but to no avail.
