Mai Bhago College of Women, Ramgarh, cannot admit students in BCom (first year) this session. This was decided on July 2 in an affiliation committee meeting by the PU syndicate. The seven member team refused to extend affiliation to BCom-I of the college for the current session.
Last month, the college authorities had terminated the services of four teachers of the college for not ‘performing well’. The four teachers gave an application to the PU dean colleges that they had been giving 100% results and when the time came to make their services permanent the college shown them the door. So, in the affiliation committee meeting, the syndicate members decided that the college will not be allowed to admit students in BCom-I this session.
Talking to Hindustan Times, GK Chatrath, PU syndicate member, said, “The affiliation committee decided that for this session, Mai Bhago College of Women, Ramgarh, Ludhiana, will not be allowed to admit students in BCom-1. The college terminated the services of four teachers citing the reason that they were not performing well. But it was found that the teachers were giving 100% results. So, a letter has been sent to the college by the university that they can’t admit students in BCom-1.”
Another PU Syndicate member, Hardiljit Singh Gosal, said, “The committee decided that either the college reinstate the four teachers or they can’t admit students in BCom-1 this session. It is shocking to know that the college questioned the performance of the teachers who were giving 100% results.”
The admission process for under graduate courses in PU affiliated colleges starts from Monday and ends on July 15.
