To raise awareness about heritage preservation among staff, students and society through a variety of heritage education programmes, the Central Board of School Education (CBSE) has started registrations for the Heritage India Quiz-2014, in which students from Classes 9 to 12 can participate.
According to the board website, as many as three students can participate from each school in the city chapter of the quiz competition, for which, schools will have to register and submit the required fee before August 8. The online registration window will remain open from July 14 to August 8.
RJ Khanderao, CBSE regional head, Panchkula, said, “To raise awareness and promote greater understanding among students about the cultural diversity of India, this quiz will be held first at school level and then at the regional and national level.”
He added that six teams qualifying the city chapter would be placed directly in the regional chapter. The national semi-finals will witness two teams each from 10 competing regions. As many as 20 teams will be divided into five groups of four teams each. The semi-finals and final will be held in New Delhi.
Participants of the semifinals and finals will be awarded a participation certificate and winners will receive cash prizes.
For the city chapter, the event will be held at maximum six locations. There will be two stages— a written elimination (a Power-Point-based written quiz with 30 questions to be answered in 25 minutes) and an on-stage quiz wherein questions will comprise a mix of verbal, audio and visual items, for the qualifying participants of the first stage.
