Residents of Bulara village on Monday made a complaint to police commissioner Ishwar Singh accusing the police of inaction in case of attempt to murder.

They alleged that the Sadar police were not arresting the main accused, Congress leader Jagdeep Singh, who following a property dispute opened fire at two women on January 31, and was at large.

The two women injured in the indent are Amar Kaur (70) and Harjinder Kaur (58).
Amar's grandson Visakha Singh said his grandmother and paternal aunt Harjinder were injured when Jagdeep and his accomplices opened fire.

He said Harjinder's condition was serious, as a bullet had hit her in the abdomen. She was operated upon and was recuperating at the Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). His grandmother, who was hit by a bullet in her throat, was also under treatment at the CMCH.

Jagdeep had bought a plot from Kartar Singh of Bulara few months ago. Amar Kaur, aunt of Kartar Singh, and other relatives were opposing the deal, alleging that they also hold equal share in the plot and Kartar had sold it illegally and without their knowledge.

In a case of attempt to murder, the police had booked Jagdeep Singh, his brother Mandeep Singh, father Jasbir Singh, uncle Randhir Singh and their driver Amrik Singh.

However, the police had arrested Mandeep Singh and recovered the weapon used in the crime from his possession, while rest of the accused are at large.
