Rs 11.10 lakh stolen from Indian Overseas bank ATM

A masked man allegedly broke into an ATM machine of Indian Overseas bank and stole Rs 11.10 lakh from it at Pakhowal Road on late Wednesday night. The accused also cut off the wires of the CCTV camera installed in the ATM cabin.

There was no guard manning the ATM when the theft occurred.

The Division Number 5 police registered a case of theft against the unidentified accused following the complaint of Parveen Kumar Aggarwal, manager at Indian Overseas bank, Pakhowal Road.

In his complaint, Aggarwal claimed that when the staff of the agency hired for installing currency notes in the ATM machines visited the ATM on Wednesday, they were shocked to see the machine broken and cash stolen, besides the wires of CCTV cameras were also snapped.

When they investigated, they found that a masked man wearing a cap entered the cabin around 1:40am on late Wednesday night before cutting off the CCTV camera wires.

Inspector Dharampal, station house officer (SHO), Division Number 5 police station, said the police were investigating the matter and would arrest the accused soon.
