Shiv Sena members blocked the national highway for at least two-and-a-half hour on Thursday night demanding action against the Basti Jodhewal assistant sub-inspector (ASI) for misbehaving with them.

They alleged that the ASI at Basti Jodhewal police station has misbehaved with one of the Shiv Sena members.

Inspector Randhir Singh, station house officer (SHO), Basti Jodhewal police station, said, “Subhash Nagar resident Vandana and her husband had recently filed a complaint with the police station alleging that they had bought a house from Joginder Pal, Manish Malhotra and Manjit Singh for Rs 20.20 lakh. Vandana alleged that the trio had sold a house constructed on 82-square yards to them claiming it to be 100 square yards.”

“To investigate the matter, the police called both parties to police station on Thursday evening. Joginder Pal came to the police station, along with his son Rahul, who is a member of Shiv Sena. He started pressurising us to take action in their favour, but when we said that we will first investigate the matter, and then only action will be taken, he called Shiv Sena chief RD Puri and other members, and staged a protest.

Later, Shiv Sena leaders lifted the protest after assurance of senior police officials. Meanwhile, heavy traffic jam was caused due to their protest on national highway.
