A 20-year-old youth was killed, while two teenagers were feared drowned, after they went swimming in Satluj river on Sunday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Prabhjot Singh.
To get rid of the searing heat, Prabhjot, Rajdeep Singh (19) and Puneet Singh (16), all residents of Ghamnewal village of Humbran, had decided to take a dip in the river after parking their motorcycles on the banks of the river. However, while swimming, the flow of the water swept them away.
When the youths did not return home, their kin started looking for them on Sunday night, but in vain.
On Monday morning, a villager saw the victims' motorcycles and informed their kin about it. Later, villagers and divers initiated a search for them in the river.
After looking for around four hours, the divers fished out the body of Prabhjot, but failed to trace Rajdeep and Puneet.
According to the villagers, they had informed the officials at Bhundari police post about the incident around 7 am on Monday, but the police took four hours to reach the spot. Villagers alleged that they had been trying to find the youths on their own, as they got no help from police and district administration.
