It might not be as popular as some of its other siblings (Brio, City and Accord), but the CR-V nevertheless has had a charm of its own. Back in the hay days, the
CR-V’s boxy design was quite a stir amongst SUV enthusiasts. In order to extend its self life, Honda had, in fact, transformed this model into a more curvaceous design and recently also introduced the European version into the premium SUV segment.
CR-V is much more curvaceous than before, with a completely new front end. Its humongous front grille features a significantly large chrome frame with black plastic. The HID projector headlamps and front bumper with integrated fog lamps enhance the front fascia. A set of 10-spoke 17 inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches and body-coloured door handles form the basis for its side profile while the rear features a curved tail gate with a pair of vertical tail lights and an antenna. Its dashboard now has AVN system that offers a 6.1 inch touch screen display and also serves as a navigation system and a rear view camera. The new instrument cluster on board comprises of a speedometer, RPM meter, fuel gauge and temperature gauge. There is also a digital display mentioning essential details, such as fuel economy, trip meter and the outside temperature. The front two seats are electronically adjustable and the rear seats provide a 60:40 split when folded down. Both the front and the rear provide ample of leg, shoulder and head room. Some other features include cruise control, a new ECON button which, when engaged, helps in improving the efficiency of the vehicle.
The model is available in two engine options, a 2 litre SOHC i-VTEC engine with 2 wheel drive and a bigger 2.4 litre i-VTEC engine with REALTIME 4 wheel drive. The one with 2.4 litres is the 4WD variant which produces a maximum power output of 190 PS with 226 Nm of torque.
It’s imposing and is new! The latest CR-V looks to slaughter its rivals by the way of its looks, capability and practicality. It is definitely better equipped than before, thanks to the 2.4 litre wheel drive variant, which can go both on the road and off the road. Its essence of existence from the time it was introduced in our country can still be found in the original model.
