Delhiites have loosened their purse string this Holi, and how! Thus, while stores are selling gold pichkaris that come studded with real diamonds, Holi parties worth Rs 50 lakh are being hosted, and people are flaunting designer Holi wear too.
A jewellery store in the city has come up with a 12-inch gold pichkari for a whopping Rs 80 lakh. “The gold pichkari is a statement piece, however, we also have silver pichkaris worth Rs 50,000 that are a hot-selling gift item this Holi,” says Rahul Gupta of the PP jewellers.
Several Delhiites are hosting Holi bashes worth Rs 30-Rs 50 lakh, this year. “The package includes waiters wearing colourful Bollywood costumes, liquor, gourmet spread and lavish gifts for guests,” shares Swati Chiripal of Sanskrirti, an event management company.
Picking up designer wear worth anything between Rs 4000 to Rs 10,000 for Holi is also a hot trend. “Tops, jumpsuits, hot pants and capris in white are flying of our shelves,” shares designer Gautam Gupta of Vinayak Couture.
