Try over 20 beers from homegrown breweries, and participate in the making of a crowd-sourced beer, this weekend.
What’s a crowd-sourced beer, you ask? At the upcoming, two-day The Craft Beer Weekender Festival, five local breweries will showcase their beers. The beer that wins the maximum votes will be brewed by all the breweries and made available on tap till the batch lasts.

The festival will be held at Brewbot in Andheri and will see breweries such as Doolally Taproom, White Owl Brewery, Independence Brewing Company, Gateway Brewing Co, and Effingut Brewerkz set up stalls. “We will be providing tabs to festival-goers so they can vote on the styles of beer they want to drink,“ says Anand Morwani, curator of the festival and partner, Brewbot (one of the participating breweries).
Beer enthusiasts can log into Hipcask (a wine and spirit app) and based on a questionnaire, select a flavour profile that suits their taste. “For instance, one can’t pair a Hefeweizen with chocolate, because that, as a flavour profile, won’t work,” explains Morwani.
Javed Murad, co-founder of The White Owl brewery, says, “We’ve decided to bring beers we don’t regularly serve, like American pale ale and mango ale.” Besides the wide range of craft beers, the festival will also have a curated food menu, with dishes ranging from skewers, sliders, poutine and more. “The craft brewery scene is rapidly growing in the city. A lot of breweries are opening up in Mumbai as it’s a good market, and the response we have been receiving is great. People really love the idea of being able to drink something other than regular industrial lager,” says Shailesh Bist, co-founder, Independence Brewing Company.
