Here’s the catch: Fish N Bait restaurant review

While hospitality is excellent, hygiene falters at this restaurant that offers a plethora of choices for seafood lovers.

Although we were just two, the staff informed us that we were free to sit at a bigger table. This was a welcome change from city eateries where sometimes even a party of three is cramped on tables for two.

This is one of the few restaurants where we immediately felt at home due to the extremely hospitable staff. Although we were just two, the staff informed us that we were free to sit even at a bigger table. This was a welcome change from city eateries where sometimes even a party of three is cramped on tables for two.

We chose a corner with two opposing mini sofas and promptly sunk into them, as we were having dinner after a tiring workday. The instrumental music didn’t help us stay awake, so we asked if they served coffee. While our attendant informed us that it wasn’t part of their menu, the maitre’d who happened to overhear said that they will check with the kitchen to see if they can do something about it. Soon after, we got to know that we were indeed caffeine lucky that night.

The restaurant offers a limited variety of vegetarian dishes. (HT Photo)

The menu served food according to geography such as Mediterranean Sea, Pacific Ocean, etc. And this was further divided into “above sea level” and “below sea level” to differentiate seafood with meat. They did have a limited section of vegetarian food called Veg Around The World as well. We ordered Frutti Di Mare (Rs 495) and Crab Salad With Creamy Coconut Lime Dressing (Rs 495) for starters.

After a wait of about 40 minutes our orders arrived. The Frutti Di Mare was excellent with the individual flavours and textures of prawn, calamari, crab meat and rawas (Indian salmon) being retained and well-balanced in a mild dressing. But we had to send back the crab salad as we found a strand of hair poking out.

Fish N Bait is top notch when it comes to hospitality. It is disabled-friendly and being located at BKC, parking is not an issue as well. However, hygiene should remain top priority for any eatery. And unless they ensure their kitchen staff sends food without any gross garnish, they fail to fall on the good side.

HT pays for all meals and reviews anonymously.
