Earlier a source material for CD Projekt Red’s video game series by the same name, The Witcher, has evolved into a popular saga, in both, games and books. The saga has now been picked up by American entertainment company, Netflix , which will soon be adapting it for an English-language drama series.
While the game developers, CD Projekt Red, will not be involved with the series. Tomek Bagiński and Jarek Sawko from Platige Image —the studio responsible for creating cinematic shorts and TV spots for CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — will be involved with production.
While there aren’t many details that have been revealed about the series, author Andrzej Sapkowski, who has written the original eight book saga has been confirmed to be on board as a creative consultant. “I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing,” said Sapkowski, in an announcement release by Platige Image. “I’m excited about our efforts together, as well as the team assembled to shepherd these characters to life.”

Fans online are hyped about the announcement and many have even begun speculating if Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist from the game series, will be a part of the Netflix adaptation.
