Want a memento from the iconic restaurant Noma? Bid at this auction for furnishings and fixtures
Fans of the Copenhagen restaurant Noma will be able to take home a piece of gastronomic history in an auction that will see its artisan furniture and tableware sold to the highest bidders.
On November 2, everything from the Copenhagen restaurant Noma’s dining chairs, tables, vases, plates, bowls and pitchers will be sold by US auction house Wright in Chicago, which specialises in modern and contemporary design.
As the four-time titleholder of World’s Best Restaurant awards and the restaurant widely credited with popularising New Nordic cuisine, chef Rene Redzepi’s Danish restaurant Noma — which shuttered earlier this year — is considered to be one of the most influential in modern gastronomy.
The sale comes ahead of the opening of Noma. 2.0 early next year, when Redzepi will open an urban on-site farm-to-table eatery themed heavily on seasonal ingredients. While many of the big ticket items — chairs, tables and cabinets — are priced at thousands of dollars, for between $100 to $200, bidders can get their hands on a pair of candleholders, weathered serving dishes, bread baskets, aprons, as well as wooden bowl and spoon sets.
Furniture, décor, stoneware and fixtures come from local designers such as Space Copenhagen, Aage and Kasper Wurtz, Neils O. Moller and Ole Hoegh Post. Bids can be placed online, by app, by absentee, phone and in person. More information can be found on the site of the auction house.
