Why should everyone’s office desk look the same? Here’s how to add some fun to your work zone.

As late Apple CEO Steve Jobs rightly said, the only way to do great work is to love what you do, and if we may add, love the place where you spend most of your day. Is your desk boring and cluttered? Does it not reflect your true spirit? Organise and revamp your office space right away with out Do-It-Yourself ideas.

Are you that colleague from work who keeps losing stationary? Use mason jars to keep it organised in one place. Have books lying all over your table? Use a shoebox to stack them up neatly. Add some light to your work life by placing an upcycled wine table lamp on your desk. Here are some quirky things that you can try at work:

* Recline an old shutter on your wall and use it to stack bills, letters and postcards

* Arrange 3-4 sturdy shoe boxes on top of one another as shown in the picture and use them to neatly stack your books and files

* Upcycle glass jars and use them toorganise and store your office stationary

* Stuff an empty wine bottle with fairy lights and let this lamp sit pretty at your desk

* Keep a plant near your desk to add some freshness and colour. However don’t forget to water it regularly and expose it to sun for a few hours every day

* Put up motivational posters on the wall that faces you while you work. It will not only add character to that lifeless wall but also keep your spirit high all day

* Hang kitchen wire racks in your office for added storage space

* Turn your old basket into a newspaper and magazine rack. You can also cover it with handmade paper sheets for an arty look

* Keep a muffin baking tin in your desk drawer to store paper clips, keys, stapler pins, toffees and what not
