It was a day of firsts for India skipper MS Dhoni. Hours before he hit his maiden Test double ton, the lead driver of his Mahi Racing Team, Keenan Sofuoglu, helped secure the first win for Dhoni's team in the World Supersport Championship in Australia.
The Turkish driver sealed a
comfortable triumph in the season opener at the Phillip Island circuit. Driving a Kawasaki ZX-6R, he took the chequered flag 1.899 sec ahead of second-placed Sam Lowes. Sofuoglu's teammate Fabien Foret, however, failed to get on the podium. The French-man, who started in the third position, slipped a spot in the race.
While the Turk knows nothing about cricket, he said he had a special gift for Dhoni after HT informed him of Dhoni's feat. "We never play cricket in Turkey, but it's good that Mahi had a great day hours after I sealed his team's first-ever race win. When I see him next, I'll gift him my helmet. I'll expect a gift from him too for getting his team to the top of the podium," he told HT.
Well, cricketers have helmets of their own. We've heard of an eye for an eye, so, how about a helmet for a helmet?
