Vettel ready to roar in 2011

Sebastian Vettel cut a rather shy figure as a sheep shearer on Wednesday but he intends to do better in his familiar role of Formula One driver on the weekend.

Vettel appeared awkward in his attempts to rid the sheep of its wool and later commanded a sheep dog at the Warrook Cattle Farm event.

But the F1 world champion Vettel said that he and his Red Bull team are well prepared and ready to go in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix Sunday in Melbourne.

"Skill comes with practice. I will not be as shy as today, as I know what I am going to do," said Vettel. "Yes, I have number one on my car. Now I have it and I don't want to part with it. That is my aim for the year"

Bernie in New York to discuss new race
F1 commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone will miss the season-opening race in Melbourne as he will head to New York to talk to officials about staging a race on Staten Island, local media reported on Wednesday.

Ecclestone would meet New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, said Australian GP Corporation chairman Ron Walker, denying the trip was a snub to the Melbourne race.

Yamamoto joins Virgin as reserve
Japan's Sakon Yamamoto will be Virgin Racing's reserve driver for the first three races this season.

Never thought I'd race in an Indian GP, says Narain
