Eleven people have been reported dead due to the heavy rains in Nashik, after five of its major dams crossed the danger level, as per preliminary reports.
The district administration evacuated hundreds of families in last few days from the banks of the Godavari in Nashik and Niphad.
The district administration has rescued more than 300 people from affected areas and moved them to temporary shelters. The water level has started receding in most parts of the city that witnessed heavy rainfall over the last few days, said an officer from the office of Nashik Collector. Teams of NDRF and the army have been kept on standby.
