12 injured after SUV topples on Mumbai-Pune Expressway
A total of twelve people, including three minors and three women, were injured after the SUV they were travelling in toppled on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Tuesday.
A total of twelve people, including three minors and three women, were injured and admitted to hospital after the SUV they were travelling in toppled on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Tuesday. The twelve have been admitted to hospital, said police.
The accident took place near Chickle village, which is around 3km from Panvel, around 11.30am.
According to the police, the injured were from two families from Ghansoli in Navi Mumbai. They were travelling to Solapur, as one of their relatives had passed away.
“As they were crossing the village, one tyre of the SUV burst suddenly. The vehicle then crossed over to the other side of the divider and toppled,” said a police officer from Panvel taluka police station.
“There were a total of thirteen people in the SUV when the accident took place. Only one of them escaped with minor scratches. The rest have been admitted to MGM hospital in Kamothe. One of them is now reportedly critical. The driver, Purushattam Suryavanshi, 31, is also among the injured,” the officer said.
The minors who suffered injuries in the accident are eight, ten and fifteen years old. They are also under medical observation.
“We informed their relatives and family members just after the injured were admitted to the hospital and they too reached Kamothe after sometime,” he added.
