25-year-old tempo driver dies in accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway
A 25-year-old man died in an accident after the tempo he was driving went off the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and fell into a ditch in the early hours of Tuesday.
A 25-year-old man died in an accident after the tempo he was driving went off the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and fell into a ditch in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to the police, the tempo was coming towards Mumbai from Pune. As it crossed Kamshet village in Pune district around 1.30 am, the driver Srijesh Yadav lost his control on the vehicle and it went off the road.
“The tempo toppled and it fell into a deep ditch along the highway. Yadav suffered severe injuries on his head and other parts of his body. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by some local residents, but he died there after sometime,” said one police officer from Kamshet police station.
There was no other person in the tempo when the accident took place. The tempo has also been totally damaged.
“The exact reason behind the accident has not been understood so far. We don’t think that this was a case of drunk driving,” another police officer said.
“Yadav was a native of Uttar Pradesh. We have sent his body to a government hospital for conducting postmortem. The postmortem reports are yet to come,” he said.
