The 29-year-old Bhojpuri actor, who was found dead at her Juhu home on Monday, was being treated for depression in her home town Allahabad, the police have found.

The DN Nagar police said Anjali Shrivastava’s autopsy report confirmed that her death was caused by hanging.

While Anjali’s mother told the police on Tuesday she didn’t suspect any foul play, the police said they will probe if
anyone may have pushed her to commit suicide.

The statements of her family will be taken later as they are grieving, the police said.

A police official said Anjali was facing problems with her career.

Anjali was found dead on Monday, after her relatives, unable to get in touch with her since Sunday , alerted her landlord.

Her landlord used a spare key to open the door to find her hanging.

He immediately called up the police control room.

The building’s watchman told the police he last saw her on Saturday night, around 11pm.

Anjali was staying in the building for the past two years.

Her friends told the police on Monday that she was not doing too well in her career.

The police have not found any suicide note and are relying on data from her mobile phone to get leads.
