The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) went to polls on Tuesday. There was heavy police presence across the city to ensure the voting went on smoothly.

The Mumbai police Twitter handle, which has more than 1.74 million followers, did not take the comment lying down.

The team responded: “We love puns too Ms De but this one is totally imisplaced. Uniform/official not ours. We expect better from responsible citizens like you.”

Twitter was abuzz with reaction.

After being trolled, De put up another tweet saying no offence was intended.

During the Olympics last year as well, Twitterati rose in unison against De after she took a dig at the Indian contingent for failing to meet a win.

“Goal of Team India at the Olympics: Rio jao. Selfies lo. Khaali haat wapas aao. What a waste of money and opportunity,” she had tweeted.
