Heading to vote for BMC polls? Check your name on voters’ list, don’t carry your mobile phone

Here’s what you need to do before you head to cast your vote for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls on Tuesday

Changed your plan for a trip thanks to awareness campaigns? Here’s what you need to do before you head to cast your vote for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls on Tuesday.

1. Check your name on the voters’ list

Even if you have voted in the recent Assembly elections, senior officials insist you should check the list once. There are two ways to do this:

a) Visit the website ceo.maharashtra.gov.in

Click on ‘Electoral Search Engine’ to the left of the page

Follow the steps to check the list by your name

b) Visit the BMC website www.mcgm.gov.in

Click on the election department tab to the left of the page

Click on Voter list tab, from where you will be directed to the final voter list tab

Click on your electoral ward number and search for your voter ID number

2. Find your polling booth through a mobile app. We tell you how

a) Visit the BMC website www.mcgm.gov.in

Click on the election department tab to the left

Click on Prabhag-wise polling booth list for MCGM Election 2017, from where you will be directed to the administrative ward

Look for the booth using your voter ID number

b) Go to state election commission’s mobile application True voter.

Check your booth number with your name or voter ID number

The GPS-enabled application will also direct voters to their polling booths

Citizens can also check their polling booths on MCGM (BMC) website www.mcgm.gov.in/localbodyvoterlist.maharashtra.gov.in and operatiomblack.dot.in
