Class 12 student of international school in Mumbai dies after sudden collapse in class

A Class 12 student from Kashmira near Mumbai died after collapsing suddenly in the classroom on Tuesday afternoon. The police have registered a case of accidental death.

Shashank Rahul Agarwal, 17, a student of Singapore International School (SIS), collapsed around 2pm. The school management rushed him to Bhakti Vedanta Hospital, Mira Road, where he was declared dead.

“Shashank stayed at ​Triveni Sangam Apartments, Peddar Road, ​ where his father, Rahul runs a transport business,” said Vilas Sanap, senior inspector of Kashimira police station. “We are awaiting the post-mortem report.”

The statement released by the SIS management and principal Kaisar Dopaishi said: “Shashank was a bright and highly motivated student and had secured Honors in the recently held examinations and was felicitated in an awards ceremony on Sunday at the school. The school will be closed on Wednesday in his memory and also the Diwali Mela has been cancelled due to the sudden death of Shashank, and the Prefects Investiture ceremony is also postponed.”
