The Bandra police are checking CCTV footage to ascertain how a teenager who jumped from the sea link on Monday got there.

Arunesh Nishad from Thane jumped from the sea link as a guard looked on. The guard later informed the police who started to look for him, but to no avail. The police are investigating how Nishad got to the sea link and suspect that he may have hired a taxi and stopped mid-way. Pedestrians are not allowed on the sea link.

The police are also trying to locate Nishad who is still untraceable. Bandra police suspect that the 17-year-old may have jumped owing to a failed love affair but are investigating. The police will record statements of Nishad’s family members and friends to ascertain what made him take the extreme step.

After repeated incidents of suicides, the police told the unions to spread awareness among drivers, so they don’t stop the vehicle in the middle of the sea link.
