Domestic help held in West Bengal for stealing employer’s iPhone in Mumbai
The complainant, a resident of Versova, ensured that she took photo copies of the teenager’s photo identity, which proved handy in tracing the accused
A teenage house help was arrested in West Bengal (WB) and brought back to Mumbai by Versova Police officers for allegedly stealing her employer’s iPhone worth Rs 88,000, which the cops recovered from her possession.
According to the Versova police, the teenager was hired by the complainant on May 31 after being referred by another domestic help. The complainant, a resident of Versova, ensured that she took photo copies of the teenager’s photo identity, which proved handy in tracing the accused.
After working for 10 days, the house help told her employer that she had to leave for her home town in Murshidabad, WB, as she needs to attend to one of her relatives who was unwell. She took Rs1,000 as her salary for 10 days before leaving.
It was after the complainant realised that her phone has been missing since the teenager left, she rushed to Versova police station and lodged a complaint against the house help. An FIR was filed in this matter and the accused was booked section 381 of the Indian Penal code (IPC).
