In yet another assault on cops in Mumbai, the Charkop police have arrested a ‘drunk’ man after he hit a patrolling police officer with a lathi. The assistant sub-inspector sustained minor injuries in the attack.

The incident took place on Thursday in Kandivli west. The office, Naik, identified with his last name, was patrolling the Charkop area in his jurisdiction when he spotted the man. Noticing he was visibly under the influence of alcohol, Naik questioned him.

The drunk man, however, started hitting the officer with a lathi. Eventually, the accused was pacified and taken into custody. The police have placed him under arrest.

The officer was taken to nearby hospital for treatment. The police are checking if the arrested accused is a roadside dweller.
