Iqbal Kaskar and three of his aides — who were held in connection with an extortion case — have been remanded in judicial custody till November 14, said police.
The accused will be sent to police custody if the cops need to question them.
On October 11, the Thane police charged Iqbal Kaskar, 52; Pankaj Gangar, 54; Mumtaz Shaikh,48; Israr Sayyed,57; Chotta Shakeel, and two shooters — Shammi and Guddu — under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, 1999.
Kaskar, Gangar, Shaikh and Sayyed were arrested on September 18 for trying to extort Rs30 lakh and four flats from a Thane builder.
Police are on the hunt for Dawood , Shakeel, Shammi and Guddu.
“We produced the accused in court on Saturday, following which they were sent to judicial custody. Investigations are ongoing,” said R Kothmire, police officer, Thane anti-extortion cell.
The Thane police have registered three FIRs against the accused. Kaskar’s name is the only one common to all three, they added.
