In Mumbai: 2-km stretch on Ghodbunder Road to remain shut for 11 hours this weekend

Stretch between Kapurbawdi and Manpada junctions will remain shut from Saturday 10pm to Sunday 9am

Thane residents and motorists using the Ghodbunder Road will have to use alternative routes to reach their destinations because the stretch between Kapurbawdi and Manpada junctions will be shut down for traffic from Saturday 10pm to Sunday 9am.

The 2-km stretch will be shut for laying the girders for Tatvadnyan foot overbridge. During this period, motorists will have to use diversions as instructed by the traffic police department.

A traffic police personnel said, “With the TMC imposing a block on this stretch, commuters travelling to Thane or Mumbai in light vehicles will have to take diversions at Manpada signal. While those travelling to Gujarat or Borivli will have to take diversions at Kappurbawdi junction. No heavy vehicles will be allowed on Ghodbunder Road for 11 hours.”

The light vehicles and buses travelling to Gaimukh or Kasarvadavli will have to use diversions from Ravi Steel to Pokharan Raod no 2 to Gandhinagar or Lok Hospital to Kashinath Ghanekar to Happy Valley to Manpada.

While vehicles coming to Thane from Ghodbunder will have to use the Manpada-Happy Valley-Pokharan Road no 2 diversion.

“The heavy vehicles coming from Gujarat to Thane will have to take the Manor-Wadpa-Rajnouli-Mankoli-Khregaon toll plaza route. While those headed to Gujarat highway will have travel via Kapurbawdi naka-Kasheli-Anjur Phata-Chinchoti-Vasai route,” he added.
