Lamborghini mishap: Congress says BJP MLA can blame anyone of ‘defaming’

The Congress party has said it was unfortunate that BJP legislator Narendra Mehta, whose wife rammed her Rs 5.5-crore Lamborghini car into an autorickshaw last week in Mumbai, chose to blame the opposition for “defaming” him after a video of the incident went viral.

The Congress party has said it was unfortunate that BJP legislator Narendra Mehta, whose wife rammed her Rs 5.5-crore Lamborghini car into an autorickshaw last week in Mumbai, chose to blame the opposition for “defaming” him after a video of the incident went viral.

Mehta, a Bhartiya Janata Party MLA from Mira-Bhayander, alleged the video was morphed and shot by his detractors for political reasons.

“Mehta is a politician and he can blame anyone as we are living in a democracy. The story was carried only after verifying the authenticity of the video and Mehta himself has not denied the incident,” Muzaffar Hussain, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary and an ex-MLC, said.

The autorickshaw driver, whose vehicle suffered damages after the brand new luxury car being driven by Suman Mehta rammed into it, is nowhere to be seen in Bhayander.

Witnesses said Suman lost control of the car soon after she started driving while trying to take a turn and rammed it into the autorickshaw. No one was hurt but the rickshaw’s headlight and outer shell were damaged.

Sources said the driver ran away from the spot after the August 27 accident after locals told him of the political influence wielded by the driver.

The driver didn’t press charges as Mehta compensated for the damages, sources said. The MLA, however, denied paying any compensation.
