Maharashtra government gives Mumbai civic body another 15 days to pass Development Plan
This is the third extension the state government has given to the Mumbai civic body since 2014
The state government has granted another 15 days to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to submit the city’s Development Plan (DP) 2034.
NR Shende, director, the town planning and valuation department, confirmed that the extension has been granted till August 2. This is the third extension the state government has given to the corporation since 2014. The constant delays were hampering the already struggling real-estate sector, said experts.
Last week, when corporators started discussing the blueprint, the Shiv Sena demanded another 15 days to discuss the plan.
HT on Wednesday reported that corporators were going to bring in around 300 amendments to the plan, which will be tabled in the general body.
The highest number of amendments will be demanded by ruling party Shiv Sena — about 100-150, followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is likely to demand another 80 changes.
Opposition parties such as the Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) will submit about 20 amendments each. The amendments made by the corporators will be sent to the state government’s urban development department for consideration.
