Man held for raping minor in Bhayander

The accused will be produced before the Thane court on Friday.

A 24-year-old man was arrested from a village in Maharashtra by the Navghar (Bhayander East) police station for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl. The accused, Ganesh Odule, will be produced before the Thane court on Friday.

Odule raped his colleague’s daughter, said police inspector Shrikant Padule of the Navghar police station. Odule and his colleague work at construction sites in Golden Nest, Mira Road and both families stay in makeshift huts at the site.

The minor, who is the eldest of four children, used to sleep near her parents. Around 3am on Wednesday, her father found her missing. He, along with some other construction workers, found his daughter in Odule’s hut. On seeing the survivor’s father, Odule fled.

A case of rape was registered against Odule. He was also booked under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.The police are currently escorting him from Sendurjane village in Buldhana district to Navghar.
