Man runs over his friend after fight at a party in Mumbai
A case of murder has been filed against Tanna and his female friend under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
The Talasari police are yet to arrest a car driver who allegedly ran over his friend on Monday night, on National Highway 8, following a spat at a party.
The accused, Nimesh Tanna, who is the son of a reputed builder, and his other friends, including a woman, had gone to a Talasari resort near Palghar on Monday to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
During the party, there was a spat between Tanna and other men of the group, such as Pratik Kanti Patel, Hemant Vora and Paramjit Singh as the latter made obscene remarks about Tanna’s female friend.
This escalated into a physical fight as Tanna tried to assault some of the group members with a bat.
However, friends mediated and tension was defused, said the police. As they all proceeded to Vapi after the party, in their respective cars, Tanna rammed his car into Pratik’s several times. When Pratik stepped out of his car, Tanna ran over Pratik, killing him, said inspector Kailash Barve of Talasari police station. Following this, Tanna and his friend fled.
A biker riding towards Vapi got injured owing to Tanna’s road rage, said the police.
A case of murder has been filed against Tanna and his female friend under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. “We have seized Patel’s SUV and sent a team to nab the duo,” said the police.
