Metro-2B work on right track, may get moving soon

The work on Metro-2B (DN Nagar to MTNL in BKC) is likely to start in the next few months.
Eight firms have shown interest in building the line. Once the bids are finalised, the construction work will begin, said officials from the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA).
The DN Nagar -Mankhurd Metro line has been divided into two packages. Metro-2B is the second phase of the Metro-2 line connecting Dahisar to Mankhurd. Metro-2A is under construction along with the Metro-7 (Andheri-Dahisar) and Metro-3 (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz).
Pravin Darade, additional metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA, said, “We will evaluate the technical and financial bids of the companies and the contract will be awarded in the next one month.”
MMRDA officials said they have got a good response. The firms who have expressed interest include J Kumar Infrastructure, Afcons Infrastructure, Simplex, JMC Projects (I) ltd, larsen and Toubro, Chec-TPL joint venture, IL & FS and SEL-SPSCPL joint venture.

The entire corridor is expected to be 23.643-km long. It will be an elevated corridor with 22 stations. Metro-2B will mainly provide connectivity between the eastern and western suburbs of Mumbai. The line will also be connected to the current Metro-1 (Ghatkopar-Versova), Metro -2A (Dahisar-DN Nagar), Metro-3 and -4.
