Model Kritika Chaudhary’s mother and brother will arrive in Mumbai today. Their statements are expected to throw new light on the case as Chaudhary’s neighbours were unable to tell police much about the model’s personal life, said Amboli police.

The decomposed body of the 27-year-old was found at her Andheri flat. Police said she was half-naked and had suffered a head injury. They found her with a cloth over her face.

After police informed Chaudhary’s family of the discovery, they left Haridwar, Uttarakhand and started heading towards the city.

Chaudhary lived in a building on Veera Desai Road in Andheri, before she moved to the SRA building where she was found dead. She had separated from her husband after she discovered that he was cheating on her. Neighbours said they did not know if she was in a relationship with anyone else.

“We know she loved her family. She must have told them about her personal problems, debts or addictions. She must have told them if someone was threatening her. Her friend circle might be able to tell us if she was in a relationship,” said an official from Amboli police.

Another police team is in the process of examining her call data records to see who she was in touch with before her death.

A forensic team and fingerprint experts from CID visited the scene of the crime on Monday and on Tuesday. They collected Chaudhary’s clothes, bed sheets, mobile and samples of her DNA.

The Amboli police are trying to trace the two men who were seen with her before her death. A watchman said he saw them entering the building with Chaudhary early on June 7 or 8. He said he did not see Chaudhary after that.

Residents informed Amboli police about a pungent stench emanating from Chaudhary’s room around 3.15 pm on Monday, after which the death came to light.
