A 35-year-old woman from Ambernath allegedly killed her three-year-old son on Monday after his continuous crying irritated her lover.
The accused — Bharti Shinde — was arrested by Hill Line police, while her lover and live-in partner Vishal Kumar, 25, is at large. On Monday evening, when Bharti, who does odd jobs, was getting ready for work, her son Aniket started crying at their place in Bhal Village in Ambernath.
Hearing him cry, Vishal got angry and shouted at Bharti, who in frustration came out of the house. “Bharti then told Vishal to hold Aniket’s hands and legs, after which she kicked him brutally on his chest fracturing his five ribs. After sometime, he and Vishal went to sleep while Bharti left for work,” said a Hill line police official.
Mohan Waghamare, police inspector, at the station, said, “After a while, Aniket woke up and stated vomiting. Vishal then took him to a private hospital, where he was advised to take Aniket to a government hospital. Soon, he called up Bharti and both rushed the boy to Rukmini Bai hospital in Kalyan, where he died.”
Soon after that, Vishal ran away and Bharti was taken in to custody by the police. During investigation, she told the cops about her live-in partner and why she killed her child. The cops also said Bharti wanted to marry Vishal but because of her child she was not able to. Also, Vishal used to complain about the boy crying almost everyday.
Bharti was booked under section 302 (punishment for murder) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
