Mumbai building collapse: 75-year-old was heading to station, went to Ghatkopar spot instead, dead
Gujjar wanted to finish a task first — he had to take measurements for a client and told his family he would be back in 10 minutes.
Mansukhbhai Gujjar, a 75-year-old carpenter who died in the collapse, was not supposed to be at the Siddhi Sai building on Tuesday morning.
He was to go book tickets to meet his daughter in Ahmedabad.
But Gujjar wanted to finish a task first — he had to take measurements for a client and told his family he would be back in 10 minutes.
His brother-in-law, Chetan Bijlani said, “He has two daughters, both in Ahmedabad. He thought of doing this one last assignment before leaving for Gujarat on Wednesday.”
Bijlani said the family panicked when one of the residents called them about the collapse.
The family couldn’t trace Gujjar for hours.
They were finally informed by officials at Rajawadi Hospital that he had been brought to the hospital but has died.
