The standing committee of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) hurriedly passed two last-minute proposals worth Rs98.66 crore on Wednesday. The meeting, presided by the additional municipal commissioner (AMC), was attended by corporators.

One of the proposals worth Rs90.72 crore is to improve the side of pavements along the LBS Marg in Ghatkopar. The second proposal worth Rs7.94 crores is to repair pavements of two roads in Ghatkopar’s Garodia Nagar.

Pallavi Darade, the AMC who headed the meeting, said, “ While we had discussed the Garodiya proposal in the morning, the LBS Marg one was given to me during the meeting. This has never happened before.”

The last-minute proposals were common before the BMC elections.

Prabhakar Shinde, a BJP corporator, said corporators got the proposal on Tuesday night. “We can return proposals if they are not handed over to us three days in advance. The committee chairman should order an inquiry into this.”

Yashwant Jadhav, a Shiv Sena corporator, said the proposal was passed to speed development works.
