Mumbai cops arrest man for stealing diamond jewellery worth Rs46 lakh

The Bandra police have arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly stealing diamond-studded gold ornaments worth Rs46 lakh from his employer’s home in Pali area, Bandra (West) on November 7. The police said they have recovered all the stolen jewellery, which is rare in theft cases.

The Bandra police have arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly stealing diamond-studded gold ornaments worth Rs46 lakh from his employer’s home in Pali area, Bandra (West) on November 7. The police said they have recovered all the stolen jewellery, which is rare in theft cases.

According to the complainant, who is a businessman, the arrested accused, Vijaykumar Sanjivan, was recommended to the family by a senior citizen known to them. On the third day of being on the job, Vijaykumar fled with three gold ornaments studded with diamonds.

The family then filed a complaint with the police and handed over the photocopy of Vijaykumar’s Aadhaar card. The police also contacted the senior citizen who told them that Vijaykumar earlier worked in Gamdevi.

The police then traced his previous employers who told them they met Vijaykumar at August Kranti maidan. The police kept a watch on the area and caught him. They also recovered the ornaments from Vijaykumar.

The accused was produced before a magistrate’s court, which remanded him in judicial custody. He has no prior criminal record, said the police.
