Mumbai corporator’s spouse held for creating ruckus in police station

Shahfahad Shafiq Ahmed Khan, 35, is the husband of Samajwadi Party corporator Shahira Khan from ward no. 134. The other arrested accused is Jameer Khan, 28, who is a party worker.

Two men, one of them a corporator’s spouse, were arrested for allegedly manhandling policemen at Shivaji Nagar police station on Thursday night.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.(HT)

There was a meeting of party workers, which escalated to a dispute. The two came to the police station to register complaints. The cops at Shivaji Nagar police station asked the two sides to maintain peace because they were fighting. The police also asked the crowd of party workers that had gathered at the police station to wait outside. “The officers were trying to make the, disperse but the two got angry and resisted,”said Shahji Umap, deputy commissioner of police, zone 6.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
