A special Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act court on Thursday sentenced a man to life time imprisonment for repeatedly raping his daughter and sexually abusing her for almost seven years.
The convict, Rajbahadur Pal, 46, who used to work as a driver, was convicted for rape, two years after the victim, who was then a minor, lodged a complaint against her father on April 10, 2014. As per the complaint lodged with R A K marg police station, the girl had alleged that Pal started to abuse her from 2008, when she was a class 6 student.
As per the allegations, she was residing in a joint family with Pal and her two uncles working as drivers. She said that she had lost her mother and ever since then, Pal had started consuming more alcohol.
She alleged that Pal molested her for the first time when she was in class 6 and that time she told her uncle about the incident. And then in 2011, after her mother died, her father raped her for the first time and she was in class 9 then, she alleged. She further stated in her complaint that ever since then Pal would force her into forming sexual relations with her and threaten not to tell anyone.
Narrating the incident of April 10, 2014, she said on the day of the incident, Pal came home drunk and started forcing himself on her. She alleged that when she objected, Pal started assaulting her and then one of her brothers intervened and thrashed Pal too. The girl then called the police control room for help.
She said when the police reached the house, she narrated the incident to a woman constable and case of rape was registered against Pal. The prosecution had examined six witnesses, including a medical officer who had examined her after the registration of the complaint. The medical reports had confirmed that the girl was a minor and she was subjected to frequent sexual assaults. The court, after considering the evidences, convicted Pal.
