The Sahar police have arrested a 52-year-old security guard for allegedly molesting a 21-year-old CA aspirant inside a crowded Metro train last week. The accused, identified as Prakash Salunke, is a resident of Marol in Andheri.

Officers said the woman, a Mulund resident, was on her way to Chakala for an audit meeting when the incident occurred 11am. She was standing near the door of the Metro train she was travelling in when Salunke touched her inappropriately.

An officer from Sahar police station said, “After Salunke’s first attempt, the woman, who was travelling with her friend, pushed him away and changed the two changed their spot. However, this didn’t deter him. He followed them and touched her again.”

The woman and her friend, with the help of other passengers, caught Salunke and alighted at the Airport metro station. They then alerted the security guards.

The officer added, “The victim informed the security guards, who initially took him to Andheri police station following which he was handed over to us.”

Cops said medical tests confirmed that Salunke was drunk at the time of the incident. He was booked under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and is in judicial custody.
