The Thane police found that Kaskar & Co. threatened the jeweller and had extorted Rs15 lakh from him since 2015
The police have filed a fresh case against Iqbal Kaskar and his two associates for extorting money from a jeweller. The new FIR has been filed in the Thane Nagar police station.
The police found that Kaskar & Co. threatened the jeweller and had extorted Rs15 lakh from him since the year 2015. A police inspector from Thane commissionerate said, “We are getting calls from builders, garment shop owners and jewellers who have been targeted by Kaskar. They are saying everything off the record but are scared to file a complaint. Till now we have received more than 15 such calls from builders and jewellers in Thane and Navi Mumbai. One of the Vashi builders was so scared that he fled from the city.”
“The jeweller told us that he Kaskar & Co. threatened to hurt his family and him if he stopped transferring them money. After 2015, he was told to be in touch with them and mandatorily attend all their calls. The complainant was earlier scared but when we took him into confidence, he told us about his ordeal and lodged a complaint” added the inspector.
The Thane police are also preparing a list of properties Kaskar had taken from his targets. Thane police commissioner Param Bir Singh said, “We are making a list of the properties he occupied through extortion activities and also of those he sold to other parties.”
