The Vile Parle Police have formed special teams to solve the case of the alleged rape and murder of a 25-year-old physiotherapist at Vile Parle on Tuesday. The woman’s body was found naked on the floor of her room, with a pair of jeans tied around her neck.

So far the special teams have questioned more than 50 people. Cops said though they are yet to find a concrete lead yet, they said there is a possibility that the woman knew the accused as there were no signs of forced entry in her house and that the accused bolted the main door from the outside before fleeing the spot.

Inspector Mahadev Nimbalkar from Vile Parle police station said, “We have formed multiple teams, which have questioned more than 50 people — who knew the victim or lived in her neighbourhood. Our investigation is on the right track.”

The people questioned includes her boyfriend and a young man whom the victim treated as her brother. Cops said neither of them have aroused their suspicion so far. But the three girls, who were with the woman till 11.45 pm on Monday, were questioned for long hours.
