A Twitter account purportedly run by Rahul Mukerjea, son of media baron Peter Mukerjea, has refuted the Central Bureau of Investigation’s claims that his father was kept in the loop by Indrani, Peter’s second wife, about the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora.
A person close to Rahul, who is Peter’s younger son from his first marriage, confirmed that the Twitter account, @rahulmukerjea, is being run by him and the tweets are independent.
“No member of my family could ever consider violence or killing as a means to resolve any issue. This is Indrani’s level of thinking only,” reads a tweet sent out from the account on Tuesday. Another tweet says, “#peterdidntknow. Indrani has lied to everyone.”
On September 18, Rahul had tweeted, “Evidence shows Peter Mukerjea did not know what happened to Sheena Bora.”
The CBI on Friday filed its second supplementary charge sheet, claiming Peter was informed by Indrani, the prime accused in the murder case, about the location where Sheena was killed and the spot where her body was disposed of.
The CBI also said Peter had tried to misguide Rahul when he was trying to find Sheena’s whereabouts. The agency has relied on several telephonic conversations and emails exchanged between Rahul, Indrani and Peter after the disappearance of Sheena. It concluded that Peter knew about the murder and misguided Rahul, saying that she had left him as she found someone better in life and has shifted to the US.
When contacted, Indrani’s lawyer, Mahesh Jethmalani, said he would not like to comment on the messages and said the court would decide about the case and the truth.
Sheena, 24, Indrani’s daughter from an earlier relationship, was strangled in a car in April 2012 allegedly by Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver, Shyamvar Rai, who has turned approver in the case.
