Reveller held for throwing stones at woman cop

According to the police, around 10pm on Sunday, the revellers got into an argument with the police.

The Kasturba Marg police on Monday arrested one of the three accused who allegedly hurled stones at a woman constable, who was part of a police team managing immersions at Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) on Sunday.

The arrested accused has been identified as Sandesh Mangal Sutar, 26, said the police.

According to the police, the woman constable with the local arms division, was on patrolling duty near a lake at SGNP. Around 10pm, the revellers got into an argument with the police. When the police tried to control the situation, the three accused hurled stones at them, injuring constable Dahibavkar and Chandrakant Sutar. The trio then fled.

Dahibavkar and Sutar, who sustained minor leg injuries, were taken to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivli from where they were discharged after being administered first aid.

The Kasturba Marg police have registered a case against the three accused and are searching for the two absconding accused.
