Road rage in Mumbai: Two bikers assault family of four in Andheri

Mumbai city news: An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, while the police are on the lookout for the two men.

In an incident of road rage, a 32-year-old man and three of his family members, including two women, were assaulted by two men on a bike in Andheri east on Tuesday evening.

According to the Andheri police, the incident took place at 6.45pm near Panipat ground on old Nagardas Road in Andheri (East).

The complainant, Devnaryan Tripathi, a driver by profession, had come Mumbai in his car from his Virar residence.

His brother Dipankar, sister Rashi and Dipankar’s wife were seated in the car. “Some vehicle knocked down the bike of the accused as per the complainant. The biker mistook the victim’s car as the car that hit him, started getting violent with them,” said a police official.

“He damaged the car by hitting the windshield with his helmet. He then assaulted the complainant. When his sister tried to intervene, he hit her on the back with the helmet,” said the officer.

The pillion rider pushed away the second woman and assaulted the duo. They then fled the spot on the bike.

The victims then rushed to the police station where an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police are on the lookout for the two men.
