The DN Nagar police booked seven boys for sexually assaulting a minor who lives in their locality. The 16-year-old minor is stable, said police.

The boys, who live in the western suburbs, had been assaulting the minor at a deserted under-construction slum rehabilitation site over the past few days.

The minor complained to his father, who asked an NGO for help. They approached a local police station, where a case was filed. On Wednesday, an FIR was registered under section 377 (unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code and section 4 (penetrative sexual assault), 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault), 8 (sexual assault), 10 (aggravated sexual assault) and 12 (sexual harassment) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

All the boys were traced within 24 hours and sent to a Dongri correction home, where an official will record their statements. The minor underwent a medical test.
