NCP chief Sharad Pawar, deviating from his old practice of not visiting survivors of major crimes, toured Kopardi and met the family of the girl who was raped and murdered earlier this month.
During his visit, Pawar said no matter who is in the government, his party would monitor the case until the girl gets justice. The NCP chief offered both the siblings of the victim admission in Vidya Pratishtan, an educational institutions run by him at Baramati. “I offer admission to both the siblings of Kopardi in educational institutions run by my trust at Baramati. The trust would bear their entire educational expenses,” he later tweeted.
In the latest case, Pawar stressed the need for a speedy probe through the fast track court and the “strictest punishment” to perpetrators of the incident. Referring to the incident in neighboring Bhamborda, where a girl was molested by three people, Pawar said it was a serious challenge to the administration.
Pawar said he did not face any opposition at the village.
Last week, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis visited Kopardi and met the family, assuring them of a speedy trial.
